Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
